Caring and Outreach
Caring and Outreach programs are offered through out the year at St.
Philip's. Below is a listing of the programs that are currently offered.

Assembling Health Kits for
Lutheran World Relief - Meet in the Fellowship
Hall at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 12 to help assemble the Health Kits.
This is an intergenerational event, so children are certainly welcome!
There will be refreshments afterward.

Quitters
- Men and women are invited to help make quilts for people in need. Great
fellowship and refreshments. No experience necessary. Meets on the 1st and
3rd Wednesdays at 9:00 a.m. in the church lounge.

Knitters and Crocheters
- Meet at church for fellowship, as well as to knit or crochet. Bring your
own projects or use church yarn to make mittens, scarves, hats, or sweaters
for children in need. Meets on the 4th Monday at 1:30 p.m.

Weavers
- Come and weave - no experience necessary. You can learn how to make a
loom and get ideas about what to weave. Cloth is available. This fall the
class will work on weaving for Christmas: a table runner or wall hanging.
Last year they wove rugs for the homes built in Mexico. Weavers meet on the
1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 7-9:00 p.m. For more information,

Hunger Ministry Team
- This group works to keep the congregation informed about hunger issues,
studies of issues of hunger, and works with the congregation on projects
designed to help feed people such as the Heifer Project, Thanksgiving
offering, MN Food Share and Bread for the World, and Offering of Letters.

Wellness Committee
- This committee is dedicated to promoting holistic wellness in which the
needs of the body, mind, and spirit are integrated. They organize blood
drives, blood pressure screenings, educational events, the information cart
and healing services. Contact Parish Nurse, Jane Hastings for more
information.

Global Mission Group
- This group works to help the congregation to grow in our understanding of
God's people throughout the world, so that we might share and receive the
word, love, and compassion of Jesus. St. Philip's helps to support
missionaries in Japan and we are a Companion Congregation to Bille Lutheran
in Nigeria. For more information, contact Linda LaFond at (763) 571-6937.

Children's Advocacy Taskforce
- This taskforce will keep the congregation informed about ways they can
advocate for the well being of children (EFCE, WIC, health issues, nutrition
programs, childcare, etc.). It meets on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:00

Fridley Terrace Mobile Home
Reading Program - This is a program for children,
which includes games, activities, reading time, and games every other
Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help with these activities.

Befrienders
- Befrienders are lay men and women who, through training,
learn skills and develop gifts for bringing Christ's healing to people who
are lonely, grieving, strangers, new parents, ill, or experiencing stresses
in life. There are opportunities for visiting, phoning, or doing card
ministry. We meet every other month for educational programs and
fellowship. Call Pastor Jan at (763) 571-1500 for more information.

Funeral Luncheon Servers
- These women and men prepare and serve luncheons following a funeral at St.
Philip's. It is a wonderful service for those who are grieving. If you
would like to help, please call the church office or Pastor Jan.

Lynwood Care Center
- On the 4th Tuesday of the month at 3:00 p.m., volunteers play Bingo with
residents. For more information, call the church office of Joyce Johnson at
(763) 572-9256.
